Saab to be bought by Swedish company

Nepal News.Net
Sunday 14th June, 2009

The Saab brand may soon be out of the hands of General Motors after a small firm in Sweden, Koenigsegg, said it would put in an offer.

Koenigsegg has less than 50 employees.

Koenigsegg sells specialised supercars which are tuned to top 400km/h and are regarded as some of the world’s best turned out vehicles.

The two firms have already signed a letter of intent and financing has been put together by Swedish entrepreneurs.

Saab to be bought by Swedish company

yeah baby: I used to own a Saab - when it was still a Swedish car. It was one of the best cars I have ever driven: solid on the road, easy to handle, nice to look at. GM whittled away at the qualities that made Saab a favorite of many (especially those in the Northeast), until it was reduced to a GM generic, with little to recommend it save for nostalgia for the old brand. I’m sure the Saab of the future will be a better - though surely far more expensive brand. Good for everyone involved, including GM.

The naysayers in the (Swedish) media are totally lacking in facts regarding the Saab sale. Guess it’s a slow news day
