TAGUM CITY, Davao del Norte (PIA) -- Young local chief executives, youth ambassadors of goodwill and Sangguniang Kabataan leaders joined what was billed as the PowerUp Youth Forum on "transforming education" held in this city.

Organized by Tagum City Youth Development Office, the forum capped the week-long Tagum City Youth Festival that ended yesterday, August 12, during the observance of International Youth Day.

The forum staged three plenary discussions on "Strengthening Youth Empowerment," "Sustaining Youth Education and Advocacies," and "Making Education Inclusive and Accessible."

The thematic topics were anchored on the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) number 4 of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development that the United Nations crafted to continue the Millennium Development Goals (MDG).

The first panel discussion brought The SDG Goal 4 deals on "Ensuring Inclusive and Equitable Quality Education and Promoting Lifelong Learning Opportunities for All" from which drawn the International Youth Day theme: "Transforming Education."

Ambassador of Goodwill Ship for Southeast Asian Youth Program (SSYEAP) alumni Reymond Pepito, Mervin Jay Suaybaguio and Lucky P. Valera joined the first batch of panel of discussants.

The second session brought to the panel of guests the program manager of the National Young Leaders Conference of the Philippines and president of the Global Institute for Youth Development Karlo Jayson Abila and the former Tagum City SK Federation president, now the Tagum City Association of Barangay Captain (ABC) president Bryan Kim Samuel Lee Angoy.

Meanwhile, Compostela Valley Governor Jayvee Tyrone Uy and Tagum City Mayor Allan Rellon paneled the 3rd discussion that required policy inputs on making education accessible and inclusive.

The forum drew more than 500 young participants who also took part in some other Youth Festival events like the Trashtags environment clean-up drive, medical mission, information drive on good nutrition, music for peace, tribe Olympics, photo collage exhibit, 2019 Junior Youth Officials, and competitions on disk jockey and rubik's cube solving.
