DUMAGUETE CITY, Nov. 18 (PIA) -- Three students from Negros Oriental State University (NORSU) Dumaguete City campus topped the recent Philippine Statistics Quiz (PSQ) provincial elimination held at Silliman University Multi-Purpose Hall.
The board of judges declared Alexis Sumugat as champion followed by Arnold Bulfa as first runner up, and Khamile Salazar as second runner up.
All the winners are freshmen college students from NORSU coached by Jefrey Narvasa.
A total of eleven students from Foundation University, NORSU, Asian College, and Negros Maritime College Foundation, Inc. participated in the easy round competition, of which only three moved to the difficult round and eventually declared as winners.
Dr. Greg Baccay, Bank Officer ll of Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), was chairman of the board of judges with members Dr. Nonalee Resoor of Department of Education (DepEd), Remiter Imbo from the Commission on Population Office of Dumaguete City, and Engr. Joel Legaspi from the Department of Science and Technology (DOST).
All winners received cash prizes of P2,000 for the champion, P1,500 for first runner up and P1,000 for second runner up along with a trophy and a certificate.
The winners qualified for the regional elimination held on Nov. 12, 2019 in SM Cebu City. (lpp/PIA7/Negros Oriental)
