SINGAPORE -- Singapore's Ministry of Health (MOH) reported 188 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, bringing the total confirmed cases in the country to 55,292.

Of the new cases, 12 are imported cases, one is community case and the rest are linked with the dormitories of foreign workers. (Singapore-COVID-19)

HONG KONG -- The Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) voiced strong support on Monday for the counter-measure against the United States by the Chinese foreign ministry.

A spokesperson of the liaison office stressed that no concessions will be made on major issues concerning China's sovereignty, security and development interests, adding that the so-called sanctions against some Chinese officials by the U.S. Treasury Department are full of absurdity. NEW DELHI -- India's agricultural ministry said on Monday that it had carried out locust control operations on 522,897 hectares of land in 10 states from April to August this year.

The ministry said control operations were carried out during day and night time on Sunday at 46 places in seven districts of Rajasthan and in Kutch district of Gujarat. (India-Locust Control)

ISLAMABAD -- Visiting President-elect of the 75th session of the UN General Assembly Volkan Bozkir said on Monday that the regional security in South Asia should be maintained through political and diplomatic means.

TOKYO -- The number of COVID-19 cases in Japan increased by 761 to reach 49,671 on Monday, according to Japan's health ministry and local governments.

The total number of infections excludes the 712 cases from the virus-hit Diamond Princess cruise ship quarantined in Yokohama in February.

The new daily addition dropped down the 1,000 mark on Monday after the number surpassed 1,200 for six straight days and peaked at 1,605 on Friday. (Japan-COVID-19)
