KATHMANDU -- The Supreme Court in Nepal on Tuesday overturned the decision of President Bidya Devi Bhandari to dissolve the House of Representatives on the recommendation of Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli on Dec. 20 last year.

The five-member Constitutional Bench of the court led by Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher Rana announced after two months of hearing issued a mandamus order against the dissolution, saying there is no constitutional ground to dissolve the House of Representatives. (Nepal-Supreme Court-Parliament)

BANGKOK -- Thailand has approved Sinovac Biotech's COVID-19 vaccine for emergency use, paving the way for the country to receive its first vaccine shipment of 200,000 doses from the Chinese biopharmaceutical firm Wednesday.

The country's Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has cleared the Sinovac vaccine for emergency use, and the first batch, aboard a Thai Airways International plane, is scheduled to arrive at Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi international airport Wednesday morning, Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Health Anutin Charnvirakul confirmed Tuesday. NEW DELHI -- India's COVID-19 tally rose to 11,016,434 on Tuesday as 10,584 new cases were registered during the past 24 hours, said the latest data from the federal health ministry.

According to the official data, the death toll mounted to 156,463 with 78 new deaths. There are 147,306 active cases in the country, while 10,712,665 people have been discharged from hospitals after medical treatment. (India-COVID-19 tally)

LASHKAR GAH, Afghanistan -- A total of eight militants have been confirmed dead as fighting planes struck a Taliban hideout in Nahr-e-Saraj district of the southern Helmand province on Monday, said an army statement released here on Tuesday.

Acting on a tip off, the fighting planes targeted a hideout of Taliban militants in Nahr-e-Saraj district late Monday, killing eight insurgents on the spot, the statement said. (Afghanistan-Militants)
