DHAKA -- Bangladesh reported 614 new COVID-19 cases and five new deaths on Wednesday, making the tally at 547,930 and death toll at 8,428, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said.
The official data showed that 16,414 samples were tested in the last 24 hours across the country. The total number of recovered patients in the country stood at 499,627 including 936 new recoveries on Wednesday, said the DGHS. (Bangladesh-COVID-19 cases)

JAKARTA -- The COVID-19 cases in Indonesia rose by 6,808 within one day to 1,353,834, with the death toll adding by 203 to 36,721, the Health Ministry said on Wednesday.
According to the ministry, 9,053 more people were discharged from hospitals, bringing the total number of recovered patients to 1,169,916. The virus has spread to all the country's 34 provinces. (Indonesia-COVID-19 cases)

HONG KONG -- The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) will roll out short-term and medium-to-long-term strategies worth over 1.13 billion Hong Kong dollars (about 146 million U.S. dollars) to boost tourism, a senior executive said when announcing the board's business plan for year 2021/22 on Wednesday.
For this financial year, the board will have a marketing budget of 1.138 billion Hong Kong dollars allocated by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government, including recurrent funding of 373 million Hong Kong dollars and additional funding of 785 million Hong Kong dollars, said Dane Cheng, executive director of the HKTB. NEW DELHI -- India's vaccine maker Bharat Biotech said Wednesday that its vaccine - Covaxin- has demonstrated 81 percent interim efficacy in preventing COVID-19 in those without prior infection after the second dose.
