BEIJING, April 13 (Xinhua) -- The following are the updates on the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

NEW DELHI -- As many as 161,736 new COVID-19 cases were registered across India in the past 24 hours taking the total tally to 13,689,453, said the latest data released by the federal health ministry on Tuesday.

Besides, 879 deaths took place in the country, taking the death toll to 171,058.

ULAN BATOR -- Mongolia registered a daily record of 885 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, raising the national tally to 16,603, the National Center for Communicable Diseases (NCCD) said Tuesday.

The latest confirmed cases were locally transmitted and mostly detected in the country's capital Ulan Bator, the NCCD said in a statement.

BANGKOK -- Thailand recorded 965 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, bringing its total tally to 34,575 with 97 deaths, its Center for the COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) said Tuesday.

This is the third consecutive day for the Southeast Asian country to record daily cases at nearly 1,000.

SAO PAULO -- Brazil registered 1,480 deaths from COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, bringing the national death toll to 354,617, the country's ministry of health reported on Monday.

The ministry also said that another 35,785 cases of COVID-19 were reported in the last 24 hours, bringing the nationwide count to 13,517,808.
