TOKYO -- Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga said on Friday the government is extending the state of emergency over COVID-19 in Tokyo, Osaka, Hyogo, Kyoto, Aichi and Fukuoka until the end of May.

MANILA -- The Philippines' Department of Health (DOH) reported on Friday 7,733 new COVID-19 infections, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the Southeast Asian country to 1,087,885.

MANILA -- The Philippines received an additional batch of the Sinovac CoronaVac vaccine from China on Friday morning, said the country's Department of Health (DOH).

SEOUL -- South Korea reported 525 more cases of COVID-19 as of midnight Thursday compared to 24 hours ago, raising the total number of infections to 126,044.

ISLAMABAD -- Pakistan and Turkmenistan agreed on enhancing economic cooperation by increasing bilateral trade and making efforts to remove the hurdles which hamper the trade, the Ministry of Commerce of Pakistan said.

Officials from the two sides attended a meeting on a joint working group on trade here on Thursday and shared their views to enhance cooperation in various fields, the ministry said in a statement. (Pakistan-Turkmenistan-Cooperation)
