JAKARTA, July 29 (Xinhua) -- The Indonesian Health Ministry reported on Thursday that the number of COVID-19 cases across the country rose by 43,479 within the past 24 hours to 3,331,206 with the death toll adding by 1,893 to 90,552.

During the past 24 hours 45,494 recovered patients were discharged from hospitals, raising the total number of recoveries from the pandemic in the Southeast Asian country to 2,686,170, according to the ministry.

The Indonesian government is currently implementing a multi-tiered community activity restriction scheme, known locally as PPKM, aiming to reduce the daily COVID-19 tally.

As of Thursday, at least 19.66 million people in the country have received two shots of vaccines, and the number of those who had been injected with the first doses reached 46.28 million, the health ministry reported.
