DHAKA, Bangladesh - After being sacked as a state minister amid a sensational tape leak of expletive-laden misogynistic comments, the Awami League's Jamalpur District Unit has dismissed Murad Hassan as its health and population affairs secretary.

The Jamalpur District Awami League leaders said they would inform the Central Working Committee of their decision to remove Murad, who is accused of destroying the party's image and engaging in actions that violate the party's constitution and discipline.

After the clip became viral on social media, Murad requested the women of Bangladesh for forgiveness. Prime Minister Hasina had instructed him to resign. Therefore he sent his resignation letter to his office.

The 47-year-old doctor's remarks on former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia's granddaughter, have sparked outrage on social media, sparking calls for his resignation from the BNP.

An audio recording of a phone call started circulating on Facebook amid the uproar. In an audio recording believed to be his voice, Murad was heard using a stream of filthy comments and threatening to bring an actress into a five-star hotel and rape her.
